Heather Schmutzer, Chair of the Board of the Atikokan Mining Attraction has painted a series of murals and paintings inspired by the mines. Her father, Bud Lang, would take Heather to the minesite when she was a little girl. The images she saw stayed with her, to surface later as the inspiration for large-scale artworks that dot the town of Atikokan. Heather, a former high school art teacher, used the mining theme with her classes. One of the murals was a class project, executed by student artists.
