Comments:My dad worked in the offices at Steep Rock since about 1946 and moved to Toronto when the head office relocated and started to do more investing. The site (mine site and web site!) are beautiful. It is nice to know that after the land gave so much to Atikokan, people cared enough to give back to it. I have many fond memories of my growing up years in Atikokan and still have a few connections there. I would like to say well done to all those involved in this project. PS (Could Heather S poss

Comments:Real nice to see a web site about the two mines that once were atikokan. I was part of this as I worked at Steep Rock from 1966 till 1969. Worked underground and above ground, ending up in the shops as service mechanic and then equipment repairman. Wish I had one of the many pictures taken of me showing a Lectra Haul to the many visitors.

Comments:I lived in Atikokan until age 17. 3 of my siblings and my father worked at Caland Ore. I can remember one particular Christmas eve when my father came home from an afternoon shift at around midnight, to the weary onlookers anxiously awaiting "Santas" arrival. My childhood visions of "Santa" were somewhat altered from then on when I realized "Santa" was actually a man covered from head to workboots in "iron ore" dust carrying a lunchbox and hardhat.

Comments:I'm looking for a way as a consumer to purchase iron - the straight stuff without chemical attitives. I know about iron stones (Mogli Marbles) and have some but cannot locate information on the health benefits of iron in the stone form. I know that the health benefits of iron have been established scientifically. Benefits that are related to being in the same vicinity as iron the ore itself. Can you give me a source to get the information on the health impacts, mogli marbles and outside sour

Comments:I grew up in Atikokan during the 60's, but didn't know much about the miraculous engineering feat that made ore extraction at Steep Rock possible. Your web site is highly commendable, however, I would like to suggest that you first give a brief overview of the entire process of making Steep Rock ready for mining ore. The 'before' and 'after' pictures are really good, but for anyone not familiar with this story, they are virtually meaningless. May I also suggest that you get a newer map of the A

Comments: I am truly impressed, it is a wonderful story with such beautiful photographs. I am so pleased that Atikokan's mine site's have had the kind of ending that those of us that lived there for many years had hoped for. To see just how the site has been restored to such a natural state is so satisifying. Those that have made this possible and those that are responsible for establishing this site are to be commended.
